Niarchos

$875.00

This is a replica of the Niarchos Diamond. The original was discovered almost 50 years after the famous Cullinan in the Premier Mine of South Africa in 1954. The large rough weighed 426.5 carats and was internally flawless. It was sold in 1956 to Harry Winston. Winston’s chief cleaver, Bernard de Haan, spent the entire year on the project. The resulting pear shape was 128.25 carats, with 58 facets plus 86 facets around the girdle totaling 144. On February 27th, 1957, the “Ice Queen” as de Haan had nicknamed it, was unveiled to the world. Soon after, the late Stavros Niarchos, the Greek shipping magnate, bought the gem for his then wife, Charlotte Ford. It was then named the Niarchos Diamond. Its last appearance was at the “Jewel Box 1966” in South Africa.

The Brilliant LegacyTM replica of the famous Niarchos Diamond is made of premier quality Cubic Zirconia and is approximately 128.25 carat total diamond equivalent weight.
